If someone has tried it, I would be particualarly interested on how it patched up. I always wanted to pick up The guild2 but never got around to it. Some people on their forums played for several generations, well beyond the point of breaking the game. Completely open play would let you continue playing with your heirs if you had children letting you continue the game perpetually if you played in said sandbox mode. Its really quite an open sandbox game but you could pick finite goals to achieve. If the sequel is anything like the orignal its a psuedo realtime (with pausing) economic simulator, The original had some combat and fanatasy and RPG elements thrown in. Had a hard time finding a manual (ended up finding it linked off the companies forums) and even after the latest patch was pretty buggy. It was translated well enough but support was lacking. Unfortunately it was developed by a german company. I found it to be quite fun strategy economics sim. I stumbled upon the original (the guild, gold edition with the expansion).
